Little Ryann has been in our family now for an entire week and how we have loved it! She is so sweet and peaceful (this could be attributed to the fact they she may have only been awake about 14 hours her first week alive!) With the first two girls, we moved 2 and 3 weeks after they were born....so once they arrived there was a bit of hustle and bustle to get things done. Thankfully we are staying put for 1 more entire year and I have taken my sweet time with her. I like to just hold her and stare at her for hours, literally. She snuggles and loves to be held. This list probably goes for most babies, but I just don't want to forget those special things about newborns.
Her little bubble lips from nursing
The sweet smell of baby pooh (and the grunts and facial expressions while making it)
The little bird mouth while she is rooting around for some food
The gas, air bubbles, dreams, or whatever causes those fake smiles while sleeping
Her tiny little bum!
After/during nursing they just can't seem to stay awake!
Her most delicate hands (hers are very girly looking)
Her Nemo or lucky toe as we like to call it
The baby burrito
How she snuggles, she keeps her arms in her chest the whole time she sleeps (whether she bundled or not)
Her hair and that she actually has some on the top!
Why Ryann (pronouced just like the boy's name Ryan) and Meili (May-lee) with the accent on the li? I was really thinking we were having a boy (again...so far I am 0 for 3 on that thought), but this wasn't our boy's name. Ryann was the name we had picked out for a girl, we just like it. Meili is a Chinese name meaning beautiful and very foreigner friendly. Many foreigners chose this name for girls adopted from China or if they want to give their girl a Chinese name.
A blurb on Chinese names: Unlike most western countries who have a relatively short list of first names and many many last names, they have very few last names with billions of first names. I think many times Americans choose a name that they like the sound of.....Chinese really only care about the meaning. Their last name is always spoken/written first and then they are rarely called by their first name. Parents will call their kid "little lastname" and kids just refer to each other as older brother, little brother, older sister, and little sister. This goes for all kids at the playground or wherever because most Chinese kids now don't actually have a brother or a sister (due to one chile policy that was started around 1979 or so). This makes me crazy to hear Adayla call Tally "meimei" (little sister and yes that mei is different fromt the mei in Meili) instead of her name. But that is what they all teach her to say. Tally is both a little sister and a big sister now, but if you just called her big sister that would be confusing so the helper lady will call her literally "the second older sister." So for those of you that can't ever remember someone's name, come to China, you won't really have to!
Here is a site that will give you a Chinese name: www.mandarintools.com/chinesename.html : if you like it and are interested in changing your name, I am sure the process can't be too painful! ;)
Ryann's first of many stroller rides and my first time out with the 3 girls (of course only out to the playground)!

Super, thanks for sharing those. How wonderful for you to not have to worry about the mundane things of the world.(like cleaning and washing dishes) You can do the important things. You babies are so sweet.
Hi Morgan! It's Traci (Summers) Congratulations on the new addition. What a cutie!
