The quickest month ever.........

So here is a run down of our daily lives, just look at the pictures if it is too long!

Ryann is now 1 month old and it seriously went by the fastest of any month in our lives. Is this just what happens progressively the more kids you have? We didn't even do much, but hang out mostly near the house. When we did go out the Chinese would about have a heart attack. After the Chinese have a child, they literally do nothing for an entire month (they are resting and recovering). They don't go out, they don't cook, they lay around, and I don't think even take a shower. So when you tell them how old Ryann was they would go into this spiel about how Chinese for 30 days don't do anything. One lady argued with us that I didn't deliver the baby because there is no way I could be out walking like that. Anyways those 30 days have past and I am now allowed to blog again!
Ryann is growing growing and still sleeping sleeping. She has this boogie eye, the duct hasn't quite opened, and she always has a bit extra in the corners. Anyway, one morning she woke up and had tons of gunk. I took her into the doctor, as it just seemed like too much, and she had an eye infection. So they prescribed her an antibiotic to put in her eye for 10 days. When we went to pay for it, it was 4 RMB or just a little over 50 cents. It made me a little more nervous to put medicine in her eye that was that cheap...hopefully it is subsidized by the government. So her eye is rid of the infection now, but her duct still hasn't opened. She is definitely a pacifier baby and very content to be outdoors. We pack her up in the Baby Bjorn and off we go (and she is usually asleep in about 5 minutes). At the doctor on the 5th she weighed in right at 4 kilos! (For you Americans....that would be 8 lbs 15 oz!) My mind still cannot do the metric scale either! We applied for her passport and she definitely will have a cute passport photo! We just love her. She is the sweetest little sleeper, I love to watch her arms and hands, as she keeps them buried in her chest.
Tally loves her for sure. She loves to help with anything and everything baby related. She won't even attempt to say her name, but just refers to her as baby. She frequently crawls right up next to her and lays down. Other than than loving Ryann she has become quite the hugger. She gives the biggest and "bestest" hugs! She finally loves nursery at church and doesn't give the Tally look to her teachers when she sees them.
She is very aware of her surroundings and pays close attention to things I didn't even know she knew existed. Helper Lady told me that when Tally and she were having lunch while we were at the hospital that she sat her plate in front of her. Tally looked at her and folded her arms and waited for her to pray. Helper Lady knows that we pray before we eat and then say amen, she doesn't pray at all. So when Tally looked at her, she said she folded her arms, said a few words, and then said Amen. Tally was satisfied and then could start to eat. When it is bedtime, we tell her to go and find a diaper. Well the Pampers here have animals from a popular kid show just like those back in the States with Sesame Street characters. A couple of times she pulled half the diapers out of the basket before I realized she is looking for specific ones. We have never seen the show, but she just prefers the dog, monkey, or horse and doesn't want to wear the lamb. It cracks me up! She loves to have her hair done and insists on wearing bows (and pulls them out about just as quickly). She also insists on wearing a jacket most days...hot or cold, she keeps it on the entire day. She is very stubborn and once her mind is set, there is no changing it especially by trying to distract her. Her hair is growing like crazy and she has a cute set of curls in the back. She either likes to hold your hand when she walks by you or she will fold her arms and run off so that you are unable to grab her hand....sneaky!

Adayla now seems so grown up. She loves both her sisters and loves to show Ryann off to people. This comes along with telling people about the things she thinks are exciting events in her life. She came home from school the other day and told me that she told her English teacher and her friends at school that on Wednesday she gets to go ride the tricky swing (more in another post on that topic soon). Have I mentioned her fascination with her English teacher before? She is her teacher with the "yellow hair" and Adayla adores her (duh, she is the only one that she completely understands and that completely understands her). I picked her up from school the other day and asked her what she did. She hardly will tell me what went on except for what she learned in "English class." That day she excitedly reported what she had "learned": In my bedroom, I go to sleep. In the kitchen, my mom cooks me dinner. In the bathroom, I go potty...etc. She was so proud of what she "learned" that day!
She loves going to piano lessons, but already has learned that practicing everyday is not so much fun.....I am ready to have her quit on some days and then others she does just fine. You piano players need to thank your mothers today for the years of hounding you to practice.....this is what keeps me holding on! We watched the Sound of Music so that she could hear the do...a deer, a female deer song...etc. She loves to sing it and was trying to impress her piano teacher last week and sang it for her. Her teacher speaks enough basic English and slow conversational, but didn't know the words to the song. That day they learned "FA" and she asked Adayla if she knew where FA was on the piano. Adayla happily replied, "Fa shi paobu!" (pao bu is to run in Chinese, as in FA a long long way to run) Her teacher had no clue what she was talking about, but Adayla was very proud that she could translate for her.

The girls are ADOREABLE. However, Morgan you reap what you sew. You didn't start making faces until you were about 15, I think at the cabin. Tally has a personality that seems to be a SKINNER. Not only from Morgan, but possibly back further generations as well.

I found your blog from the Thayne's blog and spent a few days reading your whole blog. What exciting times you have had. Jim had considered applying for the same program, but I'm not sure I would have done well with it, but you have! (Jim graduated with Tim at the Academy.)

I've wondered how the earthquake today affected you. I hope you are all well and safe.

Congratulations on your baby, Ryann! Your girls are very cute! By the way, how do you pronounce Adayla?

That was a fun update to read! The photos are too adorable. Your girls are all so beautiful!

I want to have my baby in China so I can have a month off to do nothing. Well, I kind of get that anyway. At least for two weeks while Tyler is home. That's interesting they ALL do that. My nephew had a clogged duct after he was born too. They think it was from the ointment they put in his eyes after he was born. She looks most beautiful with the clogged eye duct (I can't even tell).

It was fun to read the updates on the girls. They are so funny! It's so cute the things that they do, and it's fun to be able to go back and read these things when they get older.

Ryann is so cute! I can't believe she is a month old already. That's interesting the Chinese take 30 days off after a baby. You must be a trooper to them to be up and around before then. Your girls are so cute and growing up fast. I love hearing about their individual personalities. They sound like such characters. You are such a lucky mom!
