Due to lack of snow in Vancouver, Canada and the over-abundance of snow here in Washington D.C., the Olympics scheduled to open on Friday in Vancouver opened today here...
Tim shoveled in preparation for all of the fan mail...

Totally sunny skies + temperatures below freezing = monster icicles!

Our street...

On to the Games... Downhill Freestyle! (hosted at Nessa & Mia's home)

Tally's qualifying run...

Then in a Tonya Harding-like move, Nessa tried to take out Tally from qualifying...

But Tally still completed the run despite the interference
Say what you want, Nessa is a warrior... ("shiner" from a separate run)
Adayla on the saucer...

Smoothing out the run before the medal round...
The sunny day and cold temps combined for... a layer of ice on top of a couple feet of snow...

This run was primed for record times:

Tally pushing the limits...

Scott and Mia took the lead in the Daddy-daughter competition...

Tally starting to get some "air"...

Adayla getting some "air" as well...

But it was Mia who took home the Gold for this run...

Look at this "air!"
And with that, it's time for us to go back to work. On behalf of the 250,000 federal workers in the D.C. area that have had the last four-and-a-half days off, I can honestly say "I can't wait until the three-day weekend!"

You got some great mid-air pictures! Looks like the competition was brutal for the quality runs...can't wait to see who ended up medaling!
Wasn't it great that the chinese figure skating pairs did so well? So happy that the coach had some pay backs. Sounded like he paid a high price (his family) to coach those couples. So exciting that they won gold and silver!
I have been wondering... Did Tally lose a shoe? :)
That looks so fun with all those kiddoes. Makes me wish I could have been there to sled. (And see the girls.)
