Snowpocalypse 2010, part 2

We were just kidding about getting anything done (home projects, blogging) with the snow storm that came. I can't even begin to count the number of hours that Tim and I were out shoveling or shaking trees loose of snow.

We're not going anywhere for a while. The December monster storm also came over a weekend and the snow plows didn't get to our neighborhood until Wednesday morning. This storm was worse, and we're supposed to get another 5 inches on Tuesday. Unbelievable!
It snowed from 9:30 am Friday morning until Saturday evening around 5:00 pm. We can't say how much snow we got for sure, we measured between 24"-25" in multiple spots, but the meteorologist repeatedly said that we received much more than what we could measure because the snow was so wet and heavy that it compressed under the weight of itself.
This snow was definitely heavy. Another pine tree in our backyard fell over despite our best efforts to shake the snow off of it (three trees fell over in the December storm). We did prevent multiple other trees from falling over, but unfortunately two will need to be cut down in the not-too-distant future.
These are all big trees, 25'-30'. As Tim was up on a ladder shaking snow loose from the bent-over trees, he was reminded of that joke "How did the Polak break his arm raking leaves"
So that was our boring day. Adayla loves being out in the snow. A group of high school girls came to sled some of the hills near our house and they chatted with Adayla for about 10 minutes. It was just cute to watch. Those girls did a good job of starting to compact the snow down on the hills so we'll have a better time of it when we actually go out to sled. Today (and last night!) was a work day, so tomorrow is a play day!

Hard to even imagine that much snow, Morgan! We see pictures on the news and can't imagine living in it. Hope you guys stay warm. Hopefully the worst is over and it'll start thawing, getting ready for spring. Not exactly the setting you think of for Valentine's Day! Cute pic of Adayla...glad someone is enjoying all that snow! :)
