Catching up on 2009 - Halloween

Halloween was so much fun here. We went to a pumpkin farm with some friends from church to pick out our own pumpkins...
One of the first things that caught Tim's attention was the scent of carmel apples
Pick your apple, there are so many choices...
Tim shared the carmel apple with the girls. Do you see the trashcan in the background? We didn't at the time, but that's where everybody else discarded the remains of their apples, and bees were swarming the trashcan.
There was some carmel on Ryann's lips that a bee came over to enjoy. Before we could react, Ryann had pulled a bee out of her mouth, threw it on the ground, and let out a yell... yup, she had been stung by a bee on her lower lip...
So Ryann had "fuller" lips for the rest of the day. But through this hardship, we discovered a natural way for women everywhere to enjoy fuller lips. We are marketing carmel and bee kits... patent pending.

Then it was time for a hayride out to the pumpkin patch...

... to pick out our pumpkins! Almost felt like an Easter egg hunt.
Tally found hers!
So did Ryann with her Angelina Jolie lip...
Selections made...
Then time to enjoy the rest of the farm
Ryann liked the cows. We looked over and she was climbing the fence.
Crazy goats. I guess it's not abuse to lure a goat across a bridge with food as long as it doesn't fall off...
The final damage...
Then onto the main event a couple of weeks later... Halloween! The church where we went before moving to China had a Halloween party / trunk-or-treat for the kids. Tally was a bee, but fortunately she didn't sting Ryann's lip. (Tim's note: the dinner for the event is a chili cookoff. The winner was?? Morgan's chili! She was so embarrassed 1. that she had won, and 2. that half of the people there didn't know who she was. All I can say is if you've seen Julie and Julia, Morgan is headed that way, and my mouth doesn't mind at all!)
The next evening we went out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. Needless to say that after two nights of trick-or-treating that the kids had more than enough candy

The highlight of the evening was driving a couple of miles over to some of our friends from church in Shanghai... Jeanene and Keith. So Shanghai friends, we advertise a "two-fer" when coming out here... see you soon! (Now we're only two months and ten days behind in our blogging...)

When bout the things that my children and grandchildren do our life was pretty boring at the Skinners. However my fondest memories are with the eight of you at my feet. Tromping all over my feet. I am so blessed.
