We took the girls to the playground this evening and as usual, we all had a great time. This evening at the playground we heard Chinese, German, French, Italian, Korean, Farsi (new one for us) and English. The kids know who to speak which language to and English is the big unifier for all the kids. It's a wonderful mix to see young representatives from all of these countries playing together... you just have to wonder if there were more interaction like this if our world would be a better, and safer, place for all of us.
Adayla and Tally made two new friends today... two girls who were speaking Farsi. Raz is 7 and Yas is 4 and are from Iran. They lived in our complex a couple of years ago, then moved back to Iran, and recently moved back here. Their English is very good. Yas is celebrating her 5th birthday in two weeks and invited Adayla and Tally to go to her birthday party. We said yes, hopefully it works out.
We couldn't help but to think of current world events in regards to Iran as we watched our girls play with the girls from Iran, namely Iran's nuclear program, Iran's position between Iraq and Afghanistan, and Iran's MAJOR presidential election tomorrow (Friday). Iran could be a much different country if Moussavi defeats Ahmadinejad. We can only hope and watch.
But regardless, we're going to a birthday party with our girls' new Iranian friends. The playground is a wonderful place... the world should take note.
